FULL-TIME ARCHITECT

The cost of architects’ fees was the subject of a recommendation from the finance committee at a meeting of the Waikato Hospital Board. It was decided as a matter of policy that, while no fault could be found with the firm of architects at present doing the work money could be saved if the board employed its own architect. The existing contract would be terminated and applications called for a full-time architect, preferably a returned soldier, with a salary rising from £I2OO to a maximum of £ISOO a year. The chairman, Mr. J. Price, said the board expected to spend £1,250,000 in buildings in the next 10 years an( * that an appreciable sum could be saved in architects' fees.
