BANK OF NEW ZEALAND

Sir,—The short-sightedness of those who wiLfully put blinkers over their intelligence is beyond the analytical mind. They condemn the shareholders and others who have worked through their whole lives to provide for their loved ones. They condemn those who have given them their start in life as useful and beneficial citizens. They want these savers to build homes for them, make roads, build locomotion over land, sea, and air for their benefit. They do nothing, spend all they earn, live a riotous life, then take from those who save—those who provide for the future. Their mind and acts are devoid of moral and equitable standards, Rather it is a mind that has no pride or self-respect—no conception of justice in service or value, nor in mental or physical activity. Their method is take all and give nothing. They condemn the “profit motive’’ and state that it is “demoralising.” While they themselves are engulfed in the same “demoralising" “profit motive” system as well as the shareholders of the Bank of New Zealand, several of them own land, buildings, shares, as well as earning a lucrative salary. What is the cause? It is definitely to get more profit an aggrandising of capital. How can they honestly and conscientiously condemn private enterprise when they themselves have embraced the profit motive." In many instances, they are in possession of more capital and profits Ilian many of those who are engaged in private enterprise. These self-stvled benefactors, being tempted, fell. The mighty have fallen. —W. S. BLACK.
