FAT COWS IMPROVE OTHER PRICES MAINTAINED A light entry of fat cows sold at advanced rates, while entries in other sections sold at late rates at the stock sale conducted iti Morrinsville on Friday by the Farmers’ Co-opera-tive Auctioneering Company, Limited. A medium yarding of sheep came forward and values were on a par with late rates, the prices ranged from 33s 9d for fat hoggets down to 25s for small. Store hoggets again sold freely at recent values, up to 24s 7d being realised for the better sorts. The heavy fat cows fetched from £lO to £l4, with medium sorts going at .£7 to £B. Boner cows were also yarded in smaller numbers and sold at recent quotations, £4 to £6. A good entry of empty two-year Jersey heifers and young cows was keenly competed for and sold freely at higher rates, £6 to £7 12s being reached, while small Jersey heifers made up to £6 15s. Small m.c. calves met the market at from £4 15s to £5 6s. The offering of these yearlings was of only medium quality, A medium entry of dairy cows came forward. Competition for good quality close-up heifers was good and prices were firm on late rates, while backward sorts were unchanged. Good quality Jersey heifers close to profit sold for £ls to £l6 103; medium. £l2 to £l3 10s; small, up to £11; backward sorts, up to £9 10s; close-up Jersey cows, £lO 10s to £l2 15s; and later calvers, £8 to £O.
