SECRECY OF OFFICIALS INFORMATION WITHHELD LONDON PRESS COMMENT LONDON, Aug. 24. “There is no doubt whatever tha{ the Prime Minister's statement on lend' lease and the grave warning from Mri Churchill came as a profound shock td the British people,” says the Daily Mail in an editorial. One of the evils of war' time has been a black-out by official! on all kinds of information. Consei quently, when the first announcemenf was made in America that lend-leasd supplies were to be stopped, the publi! here was not unduly perturbed. It wal taken for granted that the usual secre negotiations were progressing anq something would be substituted foi lend-lease.
