FIRST ROUND UPSETS (10 a.ra.) NEW YORK, July 12. Two upsets were the feature of the first round of the National Professional Golf Association championships at Dayton, Ohio. Jack Grout defeated the defending champion, Bob Hamilton, 5 and 4, and Clarence Doser defeated J. Ur 0. MeSpadcu a and 4. The other winners of 36-hole match included Byron Nelson, who beat Gene Saracen 4 and 3. Penny Sluito, Sam Byrd, K. Y. Lafl'oon, Johnny Revolta and Vic Ghezzie.
