ENEMY SNIPERS FAIL
BID TO “GET” MACARTHUR WASHINGTON, July 2. The Associated Press correspondent on Balikpapan says that. Japanese snipers again tried to get General .MacArthur, this time while he was conferring with an Australian brigadier within 200 yards of the enemy front lines near Mouht Malang. Eight shots rang out and members ol his staff automatically ducked, but General MacArthur and the brigadier continued poring over the map unperturbed.
