The Court of Appeal reserved its decision after the completion of the hearing of argument yesterday of the case stated for the opinion of the court by Mr, Justice Blair arising out of the trial of Noel Ingram Brooks, a boy then aged 13 years six months, for the murder of his mother and his brother, Clarence Brooks, at Matarawa. near Greytown, on March 18. The hearing began on Tuesday.—P.A.

After being four years a prisoner of war in Germany, Sergeant Wilfred James Kirkley was killed- on the day of his liberation, according to advice received by his parents. Mv. and Mrs C. Kirkley, Raukawa, and formerly of Hastings. From the meagre information received by his parents, it is understood Sergeant Kirkley was killed in an accident in camp, which occurred while Americans were actually liberating prisoners held there. Sergeant Kirkley was taken prisoner on Crete over four years ago. Before joining the army he was a prominent Rugby player and swimmer.
