VICTIMS OF JAPANESE REFUGEES BAYONETED (10 a.m.) _ MADRID, Mar. 23. Tlie Official Spanish News Agency, reporting on the Japanese atrocities against Spanish nationals in the Philippines, says that at least IG2 were murdered, including 50 monks. Women ancl children who took refuge in the Spanish Consulate at Manila were bayoneted to death and 80 per cent of Spanish prop&.'ty was destroyed.

Spain has sent Japan a strong note of protest against the Japanese atrocities on Spanish subjects and property in the Philippines and demanding an indemnity.
