VEHICLES IN COLLISION

SMOKE OBSURES ROAD TWO MEN”INJURED (P.A.) AUCKLAND, March 24. Five motor vehicles were involved in a series of collisions when smoke from a grass fire in a vacant section obscured the visibility in the Great North Road opposite Chamberlain Park, Western Springs, at about 4.30 p.m. yesterday. Two people were injured, one seriously. They were:— Mr. Robert Smith, aged 34, driver, single, New Lynn, head injuries. He was admitted to the Auckland Hospital and his condition was serious. Mr. John Goddard, aged 29, mechanic, New Lynn, injuries to the face. He was treated at the Auckland Hospital and discharged.

Of the vehicles travelling towards the city, one pulled up in the dense smoke and others following ran into the vehicles in front. The injured men were in a bus. In the meanwhile the Point Chevalier Fire Brigade was engaged in fighting the fire.
