Second Lieutenant J. G. Frances Gisborne .recently returned to New Zealand with another draft of Second N.Z.E.F. personnel. Private P. Tapping, accompanied by his sister. Miss Eiieen Tapping, left this morning on a tour of the North and South Islands. Mrs. K. C. Gibson, who lias been staying with her mother. Mrs. B. W. Fletcher, Stanley road, has left Gisborne to take up residence in Wellington.
Mr. Jack Percivnl, a member of the Sydney Morning Herald staff who was taken prisoner and interned by the Japanese on the fall of Manila in 1942. is a cousin of Mrs. W. Ivohn, Gisborne. Mr. Percival, accompanied by his wife, flew to the Philippines from Australia shortly before the outbreak of the Pacific war, and their baby was born there. No information of the welfare of Mrs. Percival and her infant has been received since the internment of Manila civilians by the enemy. Mr. Percival’s parents have died during the last three years in Australia.
