DORNIER SHOT DOWN
N.Z. TEMPEST FIGHTERS NAZI ’DROME REVEALED (10 a.m.) LONDON, Feb. 7. A Dornier 217 going in to land revealed a hitherto unlocated German airfield with grass runways near Padenborn to the New Zealand Tempest Squadron, says the Air Ministry. Three pilots. Flying Officer ,R. D. Bremner, of Taihape, Pilot Officer C. J. Sheddan, of South Canterbury, and Flying Officer J. li. Stafford, of Rotorua, shot up the Dornier and saw it explode just as it was about to touch down. Flying Officer Stafford 6aid: “There were other planes parked there, tout intense 'flak’ following our shooting down of the Dornier' prevented us having a crack at them.”
