CHINESE RETAKE SIAPU ENEMY FEARS INVASION ’(Noon.) LONDON, Jan. 8. The 14th Air Force, attacking Japanese transport, destroyed 223 locomotives. hundreds of railcars and IMI bridges in November and December. The Japanese landed fresh, troops 'in north-eastern Fukien province on December 2G and advanced inland, occupying Siapu,.7o miles north-east-wards of Foochow. The Chinese counter-attacked and recaptured Siapu on January 3. The landing is considered to be one of a series of enemy measures against •probable American landings on the China coast.
