WAIROA NEWS
A large crowd of Wairoa residents assembled at the railway station on Thursday night when 11 men arrived home from the Middle Fast. The party was briefly welcomed by the Mayor, Mr. C. V. Chamberlain, and members of tile Patriotic Society and the W.W.S.A. provided refreshments for those on the train travelling further norm. Excellent entries have been received for the Wairoa A. and P. Society's show, which takes place on Saturday, January 20. The horse classes, particularly the competitions, have filled very well anil good jumping should be witnessed. Major K. G. Scott and Miss Mary Scott, Gi..borne, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. .). A. Black. Nuhnkii.—Mrs. J. H. Brown and Icmilv. Wairoa, are spending a holiday in j-n.-w Plymouth.—Miss M. Hepburn and W. Lawson, Gisborne, are visiting friends in Wairoa.—Misses .1. Hill and N. Wilkins arc visiting relatives in Wairoa. —Miss E. A. Taking, Onehuuga, is a visitor to FraserImvn. being tho guest of her cousins, Mrs. B. Phillips and Miss B. Prydo.
