NURSES WALK OUT
TROUBLE AT HOSPITAL MELBOURNE, Dec. 25. Because five nurses have left Greenvalc Sanatorium at short notice within the last two weeks, more than half the 50 patients spending Christina’s holidays with relatives have been asked not to return until stall shortages can be rectified. . The State Director of Tuberculosis. Dr J Bell Ferguson, said the nurses had walked out on the management. They had stated that their resignations wore due to stall shortage lack of accommodation, and continued admittance of patients. Three nurses had left at 48 hours notice, and two without being released by the man-power authorities. Work at the sanatorium was being carried on with, the assistance of untrained nurses, who had had an unfair responsibility placed upon them. Had it not been for the generosity of the Army Medical Service in providing the sanatorium with five army sisters, difficulty would have _ been experienced in attending to seriously ill patients.
