YOUTH KILLED
HIT BY PASSING CAR COMPANIONS INJURED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 2. Three youths were struck by a car n the main road at Heretaunga early 'n Sunday morning. One was killed, one seriously injured and the third suffered from shock only. They were: Killed Robert Morrison, aged 20, of Tinakori road, Wellington. Injured Donald Poole, aged 18, of Palmer’s Crescent, Heretaunga, compound fractures of both lower legs and Warwick Griffin, aged 18, of McLean street, Upper Hutt, shock. The condition of both the injured youths last night was reported to be satisfactory. Six youths, including the three who were struck by the car, had been to the pictures in Wellington. They were driving home towards Upper Hutt in the car and picked up two more. Nearing Heretaunga, the vehicle apparently ran out of petrol. The youths decided to push the car for the brief distance they had still to go. The three who met with the accident were pushing on the righthand side of the car v/hen they were struck by a car travelling toward Wellington.
