Good weather prevailed in Wairoa out-of-door sports over the week-end. but a strong wind made accurate play at tennis difficult, whilst it was also the cause of making conditions difficult for oarsmen. In the opening round .of the Sharpe Pairs Hagen and Galbraith defeated Hart and Terry, Henderson and Devory defeated M. Fraser and Nugent, Smith and A. Simpson defeated Wilson and Archibald, and. Stuart and If. Simpson defeated Parmjnter and B. Fraser. At (he bowling green the Mills Cup senior Pairs reached the final when Nicol -fs)' and Miller and Osier (s) and Archibald won' all three games. These two pairs will dispute, ownership of the trophy for the 1944-45 season on a date to be arranged. A number of competition games were played on the tennis courts and it is hoped to play the finals on Saturday next.
