EIGHTH ARMY DRIVE STRONG ENEMY DEFENCE (11 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 4. “The Eighth Army continues to make progress against strong resistance between the Montone and Lamone Rivers,” reports an Allied communique. “The Indian ' and British troops on the right flank of the Fifth Army occupied further enemy positions and the American Fifth Army forces in the central sector repulsed several attacks with losses to the enemy. “A strong enemy attack forced our troops to withdraw from a hill feature four miles north of Porrettaterme, 32 miles miles south-west of Bologna.”
