RECEIVED HIS BATON
MONTGOMERY IN LONDON (9 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 4. Field-Marshal Sir Bernard Montgomery recently returned to London to receive his field-marshal’s baton from the King. Pie drove to Buckingham Palace in a closed car. The Press Association’s Court reporter says that His Majesty welcomed Field-Marshal Montgomery warmly. The ceremony took only a quarter of an hour, but the iield-marshal stayed on for an hour and a quarter, discussing the future of the campaign with the King.
