“A BETTER TONE”
RESULTS IN GISBORNE Although' the response in the Gisborne district to the Victory Loan appeal still falls a good deal short oi' what is desired and necessary, it was reported to this week’s meeting of the committee that there was definitely a better tone apparent. That was reflected in the fact that the third week of the campaign had produced the best results to date. There is some slight discrepancy ir the figures compiled locally and those of the Reserve Bank, but the pasitiew at the end of the week was exo'cctod to show that the Gisborne disfric’ was not. far short of tlje £2OO o,6'' mark. Even this, however, i?-a,.good deft! less than the half-Way mark, the district’s target being £558.600 Thus it will be seen that the rate of subscription will require to be considerably accelerated if Gisborne is to make its expected contribution towards the loan before the closing date,
