TRANSPORT OF HORSES ipii WANGANUI. May 10. ' The submission that the horse transport control notice recently issued was ultra vires was made in the Magistrate’s Court here Yesterday when four owners and tiaineis of racehorses were charged with usmg octroi for transporting horses more, than 30 miles for other than agncultural purposes. After hearing evidence, Mr. J. H. Salmon S.M., agreed that the cases be adjourned until decisions in similar cases heard elsewhere are known. Thf defendants were DaVid Marks, of Fordell, Maurice Brooks, of Stratford Francis Henry Walker, of Hawera'’and George Bowden, of New P A m s°imilar charge against William Fam of New Plymouth, was adjourned to May 22 to enable him to be iepiesented at the hearing.
