ALLIED .APPRECIATION POSTHUMOUS AIR AWARD (P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 10. The Consulate-General of Belgium in New Zealand has been informed that Air Vice-Marshal 11. W. L. Saunders, former chief of the air staff in New Zealand and now commanding officer of an important fighter group in Britain, declared in the course of a ceremony during which he handed over to Air Commodore F. E. Wouters, C.8.E.. M.C.. commanding officer of the Belgian Air Force serving with the R.A.F., the medal of a D.F.C. posthumously awarded to a Belgian

We look also in the future with confidence in the knowledge that our two countries will strive in close co-operation towards the maintenance of peace in Europe. The Royal Air Force has the greatest admiration for your country and folds fighting spirit. Wc admire equally the great qualities of pourage. resolution and initiative displayed by the Belgian pilots serving with us. In the course of the same ceremony Air Commodore Wouters decorated Flying Officer F. E. Hogg. D.F.C., ol Mas'terton, with the Belgian Croix etc Guerre. Flying Officer Hogg _ has lalien part in numerous operational fiiehts as navigator to a Belgian flightlieutenant.
