MOST BOMBED IN BALKANS KEY BASE FOR GERMANS (10 a.m.) ' RUGBY, May 9 Bucharest is now the most bombed city in the Balkans, following the attack on Monday. Royal Air Force Liberators, Halifaxes and Wellingtons on Monday night gave Bucharest its second successive night raid, adding their quota to the fires started in the day attack. Royal Air Force night bombers have now hit Bucharest three times in the past five nights and have been over Balkan targets five nights running. As the focal point for the massing of German resources against the impending Russian assault and as the distribution centre for Ploesti oil, Bucharest is a target of unique importance. German night - fighters were over Bucharest in considerable strength on Monday night.
