AMUSEMENTS

King’s.—A story so timely that it might have been taken out of newspaper headlines, and presented with a vividness that will cause it to remain long in your memory is 20th Century-Fox’s “To-night We Raid Calais,” which opened to-day at the King’s. Annabella and John Sutton top the cast in the picture, which tells the story of the underground resistance of the French against the Nazi conquerors and the daring exploits of a lone British Commando in an enemy-occupied French village. Regent.—“ Destroyer” is one of those always stirring as well as instructive epics of the sea which thrill. In this case the cast, headed by Edward G. Robinson, with Glen Ford, Marguerite Chapman, and Edgar Buchanan, gives the audience a deep interest in the lives of our fighting seamen. It is a great sea story, with plenty of action, and is a tribute to the magnificent work being done to-day by the boys in blue. Majestic.—To-day a thrilling mystery, “Murder in Times Square,” is the headline attraction. Edmund Lowe is in the leading role as nil egotistical playwright and actor who becomes involved in a series of maniacal murders. Marguerite Chapman supports Lowe. The associate feature, "Get Going,” is a romantic comedy starring Robert Paige and Grace McDonald. “Captain Marvel,” episode 8, also will be shown.
