ARMY RELEASES
W6EKERS FOR FARMS PACIFIC PARTY BACK (P.A.) AUCKLAND, April 21. The first party of soldiers of the Third Division of the 2nd N.Z.E.F. in the Pacific who have been released from service under the arrangement made with the British and. American authorities returned recently to New Zealand. They were accompanied by three members of the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps and by 23 men who are classed as sick and wounded. The majority of the men are being released for farm work and essential industry. After their arrival the party ivas. taken to the Papakura mobilisation camp for medical and dental examination. They were formally welcomed by an official party which included Mr. A. G. Osborne, M.P., who represented the Government, Mr. J. ’A. C. Allum, Mayor of Auckland, and representatives of the Auckland Harbour Board and the Returned Services’ Association. The officer commanding the northern military district, Major-General Bell, and the Adjutant-General of the New Zealand military forces, Brigadier Conway, representing the Army Board, were also present.
