Releases for farms OVER 14,000 DISCHARGED (‘) am) CANBERRA, April 21. ‘Announcing that the discharge of more than 14,000 men from the Australian Army for work in primary industries had already been made, the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. F. M. Forde, said the Commonwealth Government had rejected the system operating in New Zealand of making m<?n available on indefinite leave instead of .actually discharging them. The men discharged under the Australian plan who ceased to be engaged in the industry for which they were released became liable for a man-power callup. They could in an emergency be speedily recalled to the army.
