X-RAY PLANT
£3300 TO BE SPENT COOK BOARD NEEDS At a special meeting of the Cook. Hospital Board yesterday to discuss the estimates for the financial year 1944-45, advice was received from the Director-General of Health, Dr M. H. Watt, that in the final estimates for the year the board could add provision for the cost of an X-ray generator and cassette charger as well as for the table and tomograph previ-' ously authorised by the department for the purchase by the board. The estimated cost of the two additional items was £2500, the managingsecretary, Mr C. A. Harries stated, and if this amount were added to the capital estimates for the year, it would mean that £1250 would have to be added to the amount to be raised by'levy upon local bodies. The X-ray table and tomograph were already provided for in the estimates, at a cost of £BOO, he said. On the motion of Mrs A. E. Beer, seconded by. Mr G. D. Muirhead, the board decided to add the item of £2500 to its capital estimates, and the managing-secretary was authorised to secure competitive tenders for the supply of the equipment.
