£126,288 OUTLAY

HOSPITAL COSTS ESTIMATES DISCUSSED £30,940 FROM LEVIES To provide for on estimated average of 212 occupied beds and service its departments, together with various other features of modern hospital administration, the Cook Hospital Board will spend £126,288 in the financial year 1944-45, according to estimates placed before a special meeting of the board yesterday. The estimates will come up for final consideration at the monthly meeting of the board next week. Of the total, only £30,940 will be borne by contributing local bodies, in the following proportions: Gisborne Borough Council £9702 (last year’s figure £9246); Cook County Council, £11.577 (£11,126); Waikohu County Council, £6917 (£6646); Uawa County Council, £2744 (£2641). The board will spend £18,398 in capital works and purchases, and £107,890 in maintenance. Against these figures will be set total credits of £8709 from last year, and subsidies from the Department of Health to £31,413. Fees and other revenue apart from levies and subsidies are estimated to produce £55,225. Last financial year the board spent. £12,601 from capital funds, and £100,343 from maintenance funds. Payments by the Social Security Department and miscellaneous receipts brought last year’s maintenance revenue to £53,714, almost £SOOO in excess of the board’s estimate.
