STOCK PRICES HIGHER
STRONG FEMALE DEMAND GISBORNE CATTLE FAIR Prices for all classes of female cattle were up on those of the last fair on the second day of the Matawhero Cattle Fair yesterday. Top prices ranged from 5s to 10s higher than those for similar lines at the previous fair. The yarding yesterday comprised some 2626 head of female cattle, which included several very nice animals. Together with Tuesday’s offering, the aggregate leached 6246. Large pens attracted a strong demand, and the spirited bidding of both local and visiting buyers was not affected even \Vhen vain fell from time to time. Among the better classe of entries was an outstanding line of 13-month P.A. heifers from. Hr. T. R. Lees, Manutuke, which topped the market at i'7 15s. Other ,18-month heifers ranged from £5 14s to £7 15s. while 21-year cattle sold from £4 15s to £7 Bs. In the fat cattle section there was an entry of GO head with some showing good condition. Prices ranged from £7 to £9. Hope, £G 4s; 40 empty Hereford heifers, (p) £7 3s; 52, Hereford, good condition, F. L. Joblin, Morore, £6 Us; 34, P.A.-Hereford cross, Tangihanga station, £5 3s; 17, six-year P.A. bulls, E.
