A proposal that steps be initiated with a view to the removal of a homestead on a Waimata property to another location, in order to eleminate the maintenance of an access road which .annually cost the county much more than the rates collected from the properly, was endorsed by the Cook County Council, at its monthly meeting yesterday. The property was referred to in the report of the actingengineer, Mr. J. Gunn, who stated that the county would have to spend £SOO to restore recent flood damage on the road. Mr. P. D. Tomblespn, riding member, pointed out that the present position of the homestead; placed a recurring financial responsibility on the council, and that the burden could largely be eliminated if the homestead eoul-l be moved. On his motion, it was agreed that the council assist the trustees for the property in approachins the .Lands ‘Department for a loan to the removal.
