TIMOR BASES STRAFED TRANSPOR'FdESTROYED (10 -a.m.) SYDNEY,' April 20. Twelve Japanese soldiers, who were surprised while riding, bicycles along the coastal road near Soe, 50 miles east of Koepang, in Timor, were killed by Royal Australian Air Force Beaufighters when they attacked the Japanese base on Sunday. The killing was the culmination of a fierce strafing attack against enemy installations and motor transport. - Making between three and five individual runs over the target, the Beaufighters moved through intense light anti-aircraft , fire to destroy motor vehicles and start fires among stores. The previous night bombcarrying Beaufighters caused fires and explosions in Koepang town. Yesterday, more Australian Beaufighters attacked a coastal vessel at Roti Island, off southern Timor, destroying three and damaging two.
