JAPANESE BASES WAKE AND NAURU ISLES WASHINGTON, March 13. Keeping up the pounding of the Japanese bases in the Pacific, American bombers attacked Wake, Nauru and the eastern Marshall Islands. A communique issued by the United States Pacific Fleet Headquarters says that Liberators attacked Wake Island on Saturday afternoon, dropping approximately 50 tons of bombs. A small force of Liberators attacked Nauru, Michells and Venturas bombed three bases in the eastern Marshalls. No fighter interception was encountered during any of the attacks and all the planes returned safely.
