NEGRO TROOPS
FINE SERVICE IN ITALY
(British Ollicfiil Wireless.) (9 a.m.) RUGBY, Jan. 31. A tribute has been paid to negro troops by a correspondent with the Fifth Army. “I talked to the officer in command of the negro troops who has been unloading ammunition during raids,” said the correspondent. “They conducted themselves splendidly,” he said,
“although many have never been under fire until the first bombing. You see negroes more and more in the front line areas these days. Negroes are working on the beaches and driving trucks, building roads and making anti-aircraft guns.”
