Strikingly moderate requests for the relief of people of the Netherlands East Indies after their liberation were submitted by the Netherlands economic mission to the United Nations’ Relief and Rehabilitation Administration, says the New York Times’ correspondent in Washington. The mission estimates that 200,000 tons of essential food will be necessary for the lirst six months, and also 450,000,000 yards of clothing in the first three months and 150,000,000 yards in the second three months. It is explained that essential food per head consists annually of 2531 b. of rice, 221 b. of soya, 221 b. of hard bread, and 111 b. of sugar. _____________
