HIGH COMMISSIONER

The first guests at the new official residence of the New Zealand High Commissioner in Australia are the Prime Minister and Mrs. Fraser. The negotiations for the purchase of this property .were completed only recently and Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Berendsen have been, in, residence, for less than a week. The house is still only partly furnished. For the nine months since he has been in Australia New Zealand’s High Commissioner has resided in hotels.
A tribute to the work of Mr. and Mrs. Berendsen in furthering New Zealand —Australian co-operation was paid by Mr. Eraser in announcing, in an interview with the special correspondent of the New Zealand Press Association, that the New - Zealand Government -had acquired a suitable residence for the High Commissioner in Australia. The house is of the single.-storey bungalow type with about two acres of ground. The New Zealand flag flies over, its lawns.
