ARMY FOOD SUPPLY
FRESH MEAT FOR A.I.F. NEW GUINEA VEGETABLES (9 a.m.) SYDNEY, Dec. 15. Allied troops in New Guinea are to receive fresh meat four times a week. This will be supplied mainly from the Australian Army's own meat works in north Queensland. The Minister for the Army, Mr. F. M. Forde. announced that, in the past three months, the Australian army vegetable gardens in the north had produced 1,500,0001 b. of vegetables, while the army /poultry farms had produced 1400 dozen eggs. The army vegetable gardens in New Guinea ■have provided troops with 450 tons of vegetables this year.
