EXPORT FAT STOCK
URGENT NEED FOR MEAT PRICE NEGOTIATIONS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Dec. 8. Negotiations regarding the schedule prices for fat'stock for the 1943-44 season, which have been proceeding between the Government and the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board, have been completed, according to a statement issued last night by the Meat Board. Full details of the prices arranged have been announced, but the board states that the urgent need for producing and shipping more meat was the paramount consideration underlying these discussions and in fixing the schedule prices adjustments were made in the values of certain weight grades with a view to encouraging the production of a greater weight. The board strongly appeals to all farmers in the Dominion to do everything possible to increase the weights of ail types of export fat stock in order to assist in meeting the pressing needs of the United Kingdom. In this connection it is the board’s intention to obtain all possible assistance and cooperation from the primary production councils, the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, the New Zealand Sheepowners’ Federation and stock and station agents throughout the Dominion.
