Firm values also ruled for cows and heifers. Extra choice ox made £2 5s per 1001 b.: choice and prime, £2 3s to £2 ss; secondary and plain. £1 15s .to £1 19s; extra prime young cow and heifer beef. £1 15s to £2; choice and prime. £1 11s to £1 4 3s; ordinary cow, £1 3s to £1 Ss. Extra heavy prime steers made £l7 10s to £l7 17s Cd: heavy, £46 to £l7; lighter, £l4 to £ls; light.. £l2 to £l3 10s; small and unfinished, £lO to £11; extra heavy prime voutig cows and heifers, £lO 10s to £l3; heavy. £8 10s to £9 1,0 s; lighter, £7 to £8: light, £s' to £6;; aged and unfinished cows, £3 to £4 Ills.
There was steady competition for an average entry of mutton and late rates obtained for all classes. Extra heavy prime wethers made £1 12s to £1 13s; heavy. £1 10s to £1 11s; medium, £1 7s 6d to £1 9s: light, £1 5s Cd to £1 7s! plain arid unfinished wethers, £1 3s to £1 4s : 6d: heavy prime young and maiden cives, £1 2s to £1 3s fid: heavy, £1 to £1 Is; lighter, 17s fid to 19k'; plain and aged ewes, 3s to 16s .fidA good penning of lambs-sold freely, at slightly improved rates. Heavy prime lamb made £1 8s to £1 9s; medium, £1 .'6s to £1 7s; lighter, £1 4s to il ss; light, £1 Is to £4 3s; small and plain, 17s to £l. Bidding was keen for an increased yarding of calves and values for prime runners and vealers were up to late quotations. Plain and unfinished calves were slightly lower. One outstanding heavy runner realised £l3 15s. Runners made £7 to £l2; heavy vealers. £6 to £7*128: medium, £;> to £6 15s: light. £3 to £4 15s: bobby and rough, 5s to 18s. There was a medium entry of pigs. The demand for medium and light-weight baconers was strong but low rates were realised for over- weights. Porkers and stores sold at recent rates. Choppers made £1 to £o 18s; overweight baconers, £3 to £3 15s; heavy prime baconers, £4 8s to £4 15s; medium, £4 to £4 ss; light, £3 13s to £3 lis: 'heavy porkers, £3 Gs to £3 Us: medium. £2 18s to £3 3s; light, £2 9s to £2 14s; small and unfinished. £2 5s to £2 7s: stores. £1 17s to £2 ss: slips. £1 7s to £1 14s: weaners, 18s to £1 4s.
