Prices for tops on the New York futures market declined 11 per cent during the past month. In part, this reduction has been caused by a decline in United States Government business. Some orders for fabrics on hand have been cancelled. Consumption of wool, although still large, lias not been on the extreme levels previously recorded. It is considered that the quantity used is likely to remain on a high range, but loss of manpower to other activities has somewhat curtailed output. The mills are not able to meet the demands made on them for Government and civilian use. Authorities in America consider that the need for woollen goods is likely to bo great for as far ahead as can be seen. It is recognised that United States milimen will be called upoiiito supply large quantities of woollen apparel for the relief of suffering Europeans.
