FAILURE TO DIP CATTLE
GAOL TERM FOR FARMERS SYDNEY, Oct. 23. Three well-known New South Wales farmers, A. A. Cameron, of James Creek, A. H. Harvey, of Ashby, ana Percy Sontar, of Palmer’s Island, have decided to serve sentences m gaol rather than pay fines imposed on them some months ago for failure to dip their cattle. „ „ The Macledn Chamber of Commerce lately decided that, as several reputable farmers in the district pioposed. as a matter of principle, to serve sentences in lieu of paying fines for tick quarantine offences, _ Parliamentary members for the district be asked to request the Minister ol Justice to have the enforcement of the penalties delayed until a time- when farm produetion would not be so greatly intei * fered with.
