LONG SERVICE MEDALS

N.Z. NAVY RECIPIENTS PRESENTED BY GOVERNOR (N.Z.E.F. Official War Correspondent.) (10 a.m.) PACIFIC BASE, Nov. 16. Long service medals earned by personnel of the Royal New Zealand Navy were presented by the GovernorGeneral, Sir Cyril Newall, when he visited a New Zealand flotilla in the course of his tour of the forward area in the Pacific. The recipients were: Chief Petty-Officer D. G. Simnson, of Dunedin, R.N.Z.N.V.R., long service and good conduct medal for 15 years’ service. Petty-Officer-Telegraphist C. J. Kent, of Wellington, Royal Fleet Reserve, long service and good conduct medal for 18 years’ service, 14 of them in the Imperial Navy. Leading-Signalman A. Mellis, of Auckland, Royal Fleet Reserve, long service and good conduct medal for 18 years’ service. His Excellency, who presented the medals on the flagship of the New Zealand flotilla, was accompanied by Commander Holden, senior officer of the flotilla, and Paymaster-Lieut.-Commander Twhigg, officer in charge of the Royal New Zealand navy advance base.
