SIZE OF HOUSES

GOVERNMENT POLICY SOCIETY'S CRITICISM (P A ) WELLINGTON. Ocl. 16. The Plunket Society’s half-yearly Dominion Council meeting discussed the important part played by housing in the life of the community. Criticism was voiced by some speakers othe Government’s policy of building the great majority of its houses to accommodate families with two children. This was alleged to have the direct effect of contributing to thclimitation of the size of a family. It was stated that parents with large families should have first claim on houses with modem conveniences, and, if the rents were too big a hurdle, some form of rent subsidy should be provided.
