SOUTH-WESTERN CHINA
PUSH ON BURMA ROAD CHUNGKING, Oct. 14. The Japanese, who have been heavily reinforced, have opened a three-pronged drive northwards along the Burma road at the entrance to south-western China, where heavy fighting is proceeding, says the Associated Press correspondent. Chinese forces, after considerable casualties on both sides, held two of the columns moving towards Kunming. The Chinese fiercely engaged the third drive, which is based on Ohangachieb. Severe fighting is in progress.
