SOLDIERS’ DIFFICULTIES PROCEDURE AMENDED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 10. Difficulty has' been experienced by members of'the forces, more particularly those in remote ' places and prisoners of war, through inability to comply with -the >law. in :regard to verification of the proper 'execution of instrument's and formal documents. It has been impossible ’ in' many instances for a witness’ or person' executing instruments' to’ comply with the requirements of the existing law that he must appear before a British minister or consul in foreign countries or before a hotary of the public in other parts of the Empire.

The amended evidence emergency regulations • gazetted' this week provide that the execution of shell doucments may now be deemed duly authenticated if they are sighed before’- an officer of field rank or before a legal staff officer.
