TE KARAKA NEWS

The annual report of the To K.nraka Lady Galway Guild and Wnikohu Women’s Patriotic Guild, presented at the annual meeting held in To Knraka this week, showed that 10 cases, containing 583 articles of clothing, had been despatched and that there Were enough garments in hand for a,further two cases. The garments were made by the guild and a small band of home sewers. The guild until recently dealt with almost all the organising in the Wnikohu County for stocking the shop run in aid of the patriotic funds and the kindred effort at the (V and P. Show day of entering and sales qf goods. The cake-making for patriotic parcels was also arranged for by the guild ijiul the district agents and salvage of waste was organised in conjunction with schools. The re-organisation of the whole .of New Zealand into county zones with local subzone committees had narrowed the workdone by this committee to local efforts. Home-nursing classes under Mrs. E. H. Joblin met last winter and examinations by the St. John Ambulance were passed. The Red Cross Society was assisted by the making through the organisation of the Wnikohu Women’s Patriotic Guild of several dozen pairs of pyjamas for sick and wounded and prisoners of war, , As the accounts of the guild were dealt With by the Waikohti zone committee, no balance sheet was presented.
