OBITUARY
SIR HENRY HORTON NOTED PRESS FIGURE (P.A.) AUCKLAND, June 20. The death occurred last night of Sir Henry Horton, managing director of Messrs. Wilson and Horton, Limited, proprietors of the New Zealand Herald and Weekly News. Sir Henry died at his residence in Rernucra road. He was 73 years of ago. Sir Henry had a severe illness last year, but made a good recovery. 1-Ie continued to attend to business affairs until just over three weeks ago. Since then he had been confined to his home. Sir Henry's public services were recognised in the birthday honours of 1935-, when he was made a Knight Bachelor.
. Tie married in 1897 Miss Jessie Buchanan Thomson, a daughter of the late Mr. James Thomson, of Auckland. He is survived by Lady Horton and two sons, Mr. Geoffrey Horton, of Te Kauwhata, and Lieutenant Ronald D. Horton, a director of Messrs. Wilson and Horton, Limited, who is on active service overseas. There are three grandchildren. Sir Henry is also survived by two brothers, Mr. Robert Horton and Mr. Edwin Horton, both of Auckland.
