SALVAGE WORK FAILS

(P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH. July 19. A further attempt oh Sunday to refloat the sunken dredge Canterbury, at Lyttelton, proved unsuccessful. As the dredge rose, il turned on its side and filled up with water again. The tunnel, became entangled with the portal of one of the big. electric crane!; on the wharf, threatening to pull the erttne from the rails. Fortunately the I'uhnel collapsed and the crane pulled free.
