U.S. RAID ON NAURU
MAN FIRES STARTED JAP. SORTIES IN SOLOMONS (11 30 a.m.} WASHINGTON, July .18. A Navy Department communique states that on Friday night Navy Cata>ina patrol bombers bombed enemy positions on Nauru Island and started numerous fires. All the United States planes returned undamaged. The same night enemy bombers dropped bombs in Guadalcanar. Casualties were caused to personnel and light damage was done to installations. Bombs were also dropped on Savo Island where no damage was done.
