KIA ORA DAIRY CO.

SMALL ANNUAL MEETING

The attendance at the annual mee* ing of the Kia Ora Co-operative Dairying Company, Limited, held at Makaraka yesterday, was one of the smallest for many years, fewer than 50 suppliers attending out of a total of more > than J-70 on the company’s books. This was remarked upon by the chairman of directors, Mr. M. Doyle, who-presided at the meeting, Mr. Doyle saying that apparently the shareholders were satisfied with the working of the company. Reviewing the report and balance sheet, already reviewed in the Herald, the chairman said that since the last annual meet.ing, the zoning of cream collections had been instituted, the cream for both companies operating in tlie district being carried by the same trucks. This had resulted in a substantial financial saving to the company. ' Cream-carting during the past "12 months ebst the company £6356, compared with £7023 the previous year. Sales-of butter for local manufacture were excellent during the past season, and in periods'of shortage the company had 1 been called on l to-supply outside centres and districts, aMr. W, A. McCliskie, chairman o! iho calf pool committee, reported-that bobby calf collections would commence next Monday, and he urged farmers to put on a little more weight to the -calves before-sending them to the freezing works. He also appealed to farmers "to put their can numbers on the slips containing their names in order to avoid confusion.

The retiring directors, Messrs. Doyle, E. McDowell and R. J. Brown, were re-elected unopposed, and Messrs. Graham and Dobson were reappointed auditors. Before the opening of the meeting, sympathy' was expressed with shareholders and suppliers who had lost relatives during the past 12 months and to the family of Mr. 'M. Angland, one of the early supporters -of the company, whose ' death occurred recently.
