OBITUARY
MR. J. T. DUNLOP
A very early and respected resident of the Gisborne district, Mr. John Tennant Dunlop, passed away in Gisborne yesterday. Mr. Dunlop was born in Gisborne 79 years ago and lived in the district all his life. He was educated at the Napier Grammar School and' look up the occupation of sheep-farming. Well-known by the early residents of Gisborne, he took part in the chase for Te Kooti, and was living- in the district at the time of the massacre. The deceased was- a very keen farmer and about 40 years ago was on Waikereru station and later Pakikurakura station. He was- very fond of and interested in horses. Prior to him lately taking up residence with his daughter, Mrs. S. P. Nathan, he lived for a time in the Bay of Plenty.
Beside Mrs. Nathan, the late Mr. Dunlop leaves two other daughters, Mrs.'Eric Loisel, Tolaga Bay, and Mrs. Stewart Hay, Auckland, and two sons, Mr. lan Dunlop, Dargaville, and Mr. J. T 1 Dunlop, jun., Tolaga Bay. There are also two sisters, Mrs. C. J. Bennett and Mrs. Dean-P.itt, both of Gisborne: The funeral will- leave the residence of Mr. S. D. Nathan, 20 Tukura road, at 2 p.m. to-day.
