HEALTH IN INDUSTRY
APPOINTMENT OF ADVISER
In view of the development of industry in the Dominion it has been decided to appoint an industrial hygienist to act as adviser in industrial hygiene to the Labour Department and medical officers of health, states the annual report of the Director-General of Health, Dr. M. H. Watt. This officer will undertake surveys of industry, make investigations to determine the nature and extent of industrial hazards and measures for their prevention, educate factory workers in health and nutrition, supervise the health of workers and institute medical examination, including X-ray, of entrants to industry. He will act generally as a liaison officer between the Labour Department and the Health Department in all matters affecting the health of people in industry.
